K-pop giant BTS have announced that their first English-language single is set to drop later this month – and is titled Dynamite.

The group announced the name of the upcoming release through a teaser image shared on the group’s social media on Sunday (August 2)

Set for release on August 21, the K-pop septet have said the song was initially produced to be part of its new album targeted for a fall release – but sped up release, much to the joy of lockdown-bored fans.

“We decided to pre-release the single due to our wish to present it as soon as possible,” BTS leader RM said on July 26 on the band’s audio vlog broadcast on Naver’s V Live platform. “We also hope to provide some immediate energy to fans who may be going through tough times due to the new coronavirus crisis.”

The Korean boy band's fourth studio album “Map of the Soul: 7” was the top-selling album in the United States in the first half of 2020, becoming the only album to sell more than 500,000 units, according to Nielsen Music.

At home, BTS topped the South Korean Gaon chart run by the Korea Music Content Association, selling a record number of more than 4.26 million copies in the year’s first half. The septet also was No 1 on the Japanese Oricon album chart in the first half, becoming the first foreign act to claim the honour in 36 years.

BTS has also received three nominations in the categories of best pop, best choreography and best K-pop for the 2020 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs), scheduled for August 30.

BTS' new song "Dynamite" is almost here, and Big Hit Entertainment is keeping fans hyped with teasers.

While ARMY awaits "Dynamite," an English single set to make waves on Aug. 21, they can enjoy a new clip of the song and music video, which was unveiled on Tuesday (Aug. 18).

The song, has a disco vibe to it, will be accompanied by a video where the group shows off their impressive dance moves. The teaser also shows a beautiful sunset sky. A press release promises that the "Dynamite" video will be released along with the song on Aug. 21.

Previously, a photo was released as a preview for the song. In the picture, posted on Saturday (Aug. 15), the K-pop superstars casually pose behind a counter, looking as though they're standing around and anticipating the new tune, too.

In July, BTS first mentioned they have a new single coming up. "We are preparing an album for the second half of this year, but decided to first release a single because we wanted to reach our fans as soon as possible," they revealed on the Korean broadcasting app V Live. "Due to COVID-19, people around the world have been going through tough times and we wanted to share some positive energy with our fans."

They added, "The song is upbeat and sung in English, just like 'MIC Drop' and 'Waste It on Me.' We thought that the song sounded perfect as it is in English. We recorded the guide version and felt that the result was something totally new and fresh."
